MySSH

Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply to the MySSH app, the MySSH cloud and this website (together, “MySSH”). By downloading the app, creating an account or using MySSH in any other way, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use MySSH.

If you use MySSH on behalf of a company, you accept these terms for it as well, and confirm that you may do so.

Who we are

You might picture a whole MySSH team behind it. In fact MySSH is made and run by one person, a solo developer who writes the app, looks after the servers and answers every email. You can reach me at support@myssh.app.

Using the app

We allow you to install and use the app on your own devices, for personal use and for work. This permission is yours alone: it cannot be sold or passed on, and it ends when these terms end for you. You may not:

  • sell, rent or redistribute the app, or present a modified copy as MySSH;
  • take the app apart to copy it or to get around its protections, except as far as the law allows you to;
  • remove the notices about who made it.

The app includes open-source components. Each is covered by its own licence, and nothing in these terms limits what that licence allows.

An app that is still growing

MySSH is in active development. Features can change, appear or go away, and there can be bugs. Keep your own backups of what matters, and of your SSH keys above all.

Your account

  • Give an email address you can read: it is your login.
  • Keep your master password safe. It never reaches us, so nobody, us included, can recover it, or the cloud copy without it.
  • You are responsible for what is done with your account and on the devices you sign in on. If you think someone else has access, change your password and revoke the devices you do not recognise.

Your servers and your data

MySSH connects you to servers; it does not own them. Connect only to servers you are allowed to use, and follow the rules of whoever runs them. What you do on your servers is your responsibility.

Your data stays yours. We store what you sync only in encrypted form and use it only to provide MySSH. The Privacy Policy says what we keep and why.

Acceptable use

Do not use MySSH to:

  • get into systems you are not allowed to access, or attack, scan or overload anyone’s systems;
  • break the law, or help anyone else break it;
  • spread malware, or share through a shared session what you have no right to share;
  • overload our cloud, get around its limits or plans, or try to reach other people’s data;
  • pretend to be someone else when you register or share a session.

Shared sessions

When you share a terminal, everyone with the link sees everything it shows, passwords typed in the open included, and a guest you give the keyboard to acts on your server as you. Share links only with people you trust, and stop sharing when you are done. You are responsible for what happens in a session you share.

Plans and payments

Some features may be offered as paid plans. Before you pay, you see the price, what the plan includes and how it renews. Nothing is charged without a purchase you make yourself, and a subscription can be cancelled at any time, taking effect at the end of the period already paid for. Paid plans are sold by Creem, our payment provider, as the merchant of record: it charges your card and calculates and collects any tax. Refunds and taxes follow the terms shown at purchase and the law where you live.

Updates

The app offers updates and installs them only when you say so. Each one is signed, and the app checks the signature before installing it. We may stop supporting old versions, for example when the cloud changes in a way they cannot follow.

Ending

You can stop using MySSH at any time and delete your account in the app’s settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts MySSH or other people at risk; where we can, we tell you first. The app keeps working with the data on your device even without an account.

No guarantees

We work hard to make MySSH reliable, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we give no guarantee that it will be free of errors, always available, or fit for a particular purpose.

Limits of our liability

As far as the law allows, MySSH is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profit, lost data or interrupted work, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for MySSH in the twelve months before it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms as MySSH grows. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change matters, we say so in the app or on this site before it takes effect; if you keep using MySSH after that, you accept the new terms.
