What is said about Termius comes from its pricing page, security page and documentation, as of 14 October 2026. If something there has changed, tell us and we will fix it here.
Launch, size and memory
We opened both apps on the same computer and timed two moments: when the window appears, and when its first frame is fully drawn.
| App | Window appears | First fully drawn frame |
|---|---|---|
| MySSH | 0.35 s | ≈ 0.81 s |
| Termius | 0.51 s | ≈ 2.03 s |
Our own measurement, not an independent benchmark. MacBook Air with M4 and 16 GB of memory, macOS 27.0.1, MySSH 0.1.67 and Termius 10.0.6, October 2026. Launch time depends on the computer, the system, what else is running and how much data an app holds, so your numbers will differ, and a newer version of either app may change them.
Size and memory
| App | Size on disk | Memory with helper processes, median |
|---|---|---|
| MySSH | 18.7 MB | 113 MB |
| Termius | 438 MB | 811 MB |
Same Mac and versions as above. Size on disk is the app as installed. Memory is the app together with all its helper processes (Electron's for Termius, WebKit's for MySSH). Measured one app at a time under the same conditions: main screen, no SSH session open, window 1200×780, 30 to 34 seconds after launch; three launches of each, median shown. Termius ranged from 701 to 841 MB, MySSH from 112 to 116 MB. In this series MySSH used about 7.2 times less memory.
Where MySSH is ahead
- It is fast. In our own test on the same Mac, MySSH was fully on screen in about 0.81 s against about 2.03 s for Termius, and used about 7 times less memory: 113 MB of RAM against 811 MB. How we measured.
- It is light. The core is written in Rust, there is no Electron and no browser bundled inside, and the whole installer is under 9 MB.
- No account, ever, unless you want sync. Without one, nothing leaves your computer at all.
- Security in plain words. The security page names the algorithms, lists everything our server sees and does not see, and says what none of it protects against.
- SFTP in every session. One click opens it over the connection that is already there, with no second connection and no second sign-in, in the folder your terminal is in. Every tab has its own, so you can work in the files of several servers at once. Edit a config in the built-in editor or in any app on your computer: when you save, MySSH asks whether to send it back to the server. Copies wait in a queue and run three files at a time, and a folder of many small files can go as one archive, all or nothing.
- It notices things for you. It recognises a server's system, gathers hosts that share a login into one identity, and offers to save the commands you keep typing.
- Your servers at a glance. In advanced mode each host's tile shows its processor, memory and disk, and whether it is online, and a terminal on your own computer is a tab away.
- Nobody is watching. No analytics, no telemetry, no advertising.
Where Termius is ahead
Termius has been around for years and covers more ground. If any of this is a must for you, it is the better pick today.
- More platforms. Linux, and apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. MySSH runs on macOS and Windows for now; its mobile apps are in the works.
- More ways to connect. Port forwarding, jump hosts, proxies, Mosh, Telnet and Serial. MySSH speaks SSH and SFTP, and port forwarding is coming soon.
- Built for teams. Shared vaults, access control and single sign-on. MySSH has no team features apart from shared terminal sessions.
Moving from Termius
The two apps do not share files or settings, so you can try MySSH next to Termius and give nothing up.
- Install MySSH and open it. There is no account to create.
- Bring your keys. Import your private keys: MySSH reads the OpenSSH, PEM and PuTTY formats.
- Add your hosts. MySSH does not read Termius data, so hosts are added by hand. When several share a login, it offers to gather them into one identity.
- Turn on sync if you want the same hosts on another computer. That is when you create an account.
Questions
Is MySSH a good alternative to Termius?
If you work from a Mac or a Windows PC and need hosts, a terminal, SFTP, snippets, keys and encrypted sync, yes, in a smaller and lighter app. Files are where it goes further: SFTP is part of every tab, opens in a click with no second sign-in, and you can have as many open as you have tabs. If you need mobile apps, Linux, port forwarding or team vaults, Termius covers more today.
Does MySSH have a mobile app or a Linux version?
Not yet. Mobile apps are in the works; there is no Linux version. Today MySSH runs on any Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 and newer) and on Windows 10 and 11. Your servers can run anything you reach over SSH.
Does MySSH support port forwarding or jump hosts?
Port forwarding is coming soon; jump hosts are not supported. Today MySSH connects straight to your servers over SSH and SFTP, so if your work depends on tunnels or bastion hosts right now, Termius handles them.
Is sync encrypted in both?
Yes, both encrypt synced data on your device. MySSH spells its scheme out: XChaCha20-Poly1305 for every record, Argon2id for the master password, and a full list of what its server can and cannot see.
Can I use MySSH and Termius side by side?
Yes. They do not touch each other's files or settings, so you can try MySSH on the same computer and keep Termius for as long as you like.
